Hugh E. Buckberry, 11/26/1942- 03/01/2026, lovingly known to many as “Rick” or “Buck,” passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2026, at 4:17 p.m., at the age of 83.

Hugh was a longtime resident of New Boston/Huron Township area and was raised in Romulus, Michigan. He lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964–1966 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, Hugh was a tool and die maker as well as devoted his working years to Ford Motor Company, where he built a reputation for his strong work ethic and mechanical skill. A true car enthusiast, he had a lifelong passion for working on automobiles and took great pride in building three classic cars, 1965 Mustang fastbacks, a 1965 coupe, and rebuilding a 1968 Torino Fastback — projects that reflected his craftsmanship, perfection, patience, and love of the trade. In addition to his love of cars, Hugh enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him peace and many cherished memories over the years.

Above all, Hugh was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon L. Buckberry, and his cherished children: Eric H. Buckberry(Deceased), Pamela Vanduzen, Gregory Buckberry, Danielle Gibson (Ray Eddings), Kristie Guerrero late (Keith), and Andrea Rushlow (Robert Rushlow). He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren: Samantha, Johnathan, Jessica, Eric, Jacob, Alyssa, Collette, Katie and Trent great grandchildren: Carson, Brydon, Logan, James, Willow, Dominic, Audri, Carter, Cade, Maddie, Ronan, and Talulla.

His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched throughout his years.

Hugh will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the pride he took in providing for and caring for those he loved. He leaves behind memories that will be treasured always.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be planned for the end of March, with details to be shared with family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Memorial Gathering will be held on March 22, 2026, from 03:00 pm to 06:30 pm at Romulus VFW post 78 located at 39270 w huron River drive . A service, 21 gun Salute, flag folding and luncheon will all take place on the VFW grounds .
