Hugh Thomas (Tom) Robertson

Hugh Thomas “Tom” Robertson was called to heaven on February 26, 2026. He was born in 1942 in Richmond to Hugh and Marian Robertson.

Tom met the love of his life, Sally Jo Shattuck, while attending youth group at Venable Baptist Church. Their courtship blossomed into a marriage that spanned 59 wonderful years, filled with love, faith, and devotion, until Sally’s passing in 2021.

Tom began his professional career as Purchasing Manager at Molins and later continued his work with Reynolds Metals Company. He and Sally were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Richmond and were active in the life of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, where Sally faithfully served as Director of Christian Education.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sally Jo Shattuck Robertson; and his sister, Patricia Robertson Mallis.

Tom is survived by his three children: Cheri Robertson Wells and her husband, Earnie Wells, of Quinton; Edwin Robertson of Richmond; and Mark Robertson and his husband, Marcelo Outeiro, of Richmond. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer Sanders Sheppard and her husband, Jason Sheppard, of Mechanicsville; James Sanders and his wife, Sandy Sanders, of New Kent; David Sanders of Aylett; and Chip Wells of Quinton; and four great-grandchildren: Sarah Sheppard, Jack Sheppard, Rylee Sanders, and James Sanders. In addition, he leaves his sister-in-law, Lu Lewis, and niece, Linda Graham, of Chattanooga, TN; his brother-in-law, George Mallis, of Lynchburg, VA; and many devoted friends who will cherish his memory.
