Ila Claire Stucki Lundberg passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at her home in St. George, Utah. She was born December 20, 1930, in St. George, Utah, to Harvey Stucki and Anna Hilda Wittwer Stucki, the second of five children: Cleo Stucki Mathis (deceased), Harvey Bruce Stucki (deceased), John Wesley Stucki (Decatur, Texas), and Stephen Wittwer Stucki (deceased).

Ila grew up in Santa Clara, Utah, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family. She married Allen James ("Jim") Lundberg on May 31, 1950, in the St. George Utah Temple. Their marriage spanned 56 years, until Jim's passing in October 2006. Together they built a life rooted in sacrifice, love, and shared adventure.

Ila attended elementary school in Santa Clara. She attended Woodward Jr. High and Dixie High School in St. George, graduating in the Class of 1948. She continued her education at Dixie Junior College, graduating in 1950, and later at Brigham Young University, where from 1964 to 1972 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Library Science. She also served on the Dixie State University Advisory Board in her later years.

As a youth, Ila worked in local fields and orchards and helped with family chores typical of small-town life in Santa Clara. She also did clerical work for her family's business, at Geneva Steel while Jim attended BYU, and later assisted Jim in the administrative work of his insurance agency.

After marrying, Ila and Jim lived in Provo, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and St. George. In 1964, they moved their family to Provo, Utah, where they finished raising their children and enjoyed living and associating with neighbors on "Celestial Avenue" until 1996, when they returned to St. George.

Ila led an active and engaged life. She played basketball and softball in her youth and enjoyed camping and fishing with her father. She taught each of her children — and many others in the community — to swim at the St. George City Pool. She enjoyed walking with friends and neighbors and continued swimming for exercise well into her eighth decade.

She and Jim enjoyed traveling. Through Jim's work with Farmers Insurance Group and leadership positions in Lions Clubs International, they traveled to six of the seven continents and nearly every U.S. state, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. Some of their travel was in Jim's beloved Cessnas. Ila earned her private pilot's license in 1961 so she could accompany Jim more confidently.

At home, Ila canned, sewed, knitted, quilted, cooked, and encouraged her family. She served the community for years as an election judge for her precinct. She served faithfully in different callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught her children the value of work and encouraged them to strive for excellence. Her fifteen grandchildren knew her as the one who always remembered birthdays with a card and an age-appropriate number of dollar bills. They loved visiting her and enjoying home-made ice cream or Creamies from her freezer.

Ila's lifelong love of literature enriched her life and those around her. She participated in family book club meetings well into her nineties. She enjoyed conversation, was thoughtful, curious, and full of genuine interest in the people she loved.

Ila is survived by her children James Scott (Laurie Hymas) Lundberg, West Jordan, Utah; Max S. (Karen Miller) Lundberg, Sandy, Utah; Sally Jo (Danny) Mielke, Ivins, Utah; and John David (Debra Fiello) Lundberg, St. George, Utah; her brother John Wesley Stucki; fifteen grandchildren; and forty-seven great-grandchildren.

Her family rejoices in knowing she is reunited with Jim after a long wait, and that together they continue their journey.
