Irene Watson (née Holshuh) passed away peacefully on December 29th at her home in Carmichael, California, at the age of 86.
She was born on April 2, 1939, in Schiesen, Germany, and lived a life marked by faith, resilience, humility, perseverance and a deep, abiding Love for her family.

After becoming widowed, Irene courageously raised their son, Karl, as a single mother with remarkable strength and devotion.
Irene later made her home in California, settling in Marin County, where she built a life centered on family, spiritual growth, personal development, and service to others. She deeply loved the San Francisco Bay Area, which she considered her true home. She worked as an art consultant for over 40 years, a career that reflected her appreciation for beauty, creativity, and culture, and she remained closely connected to the Marin County art community throughout her life.
A devoted spiritual seeker, Irene taught Transcendental Meditation for many years and spent meaningful time at Maharishi University in Fairfield, Iowa, focusing on healing, spiritual study, and teaching. Later in life, she suffered a stroke and faced rehabilitation with courage and determination, regaining her independence and continuing to live with grace. She often credited her resilience to a lifetime of yoga, meditation, prayer, and faith.
Irene experienced profound heartbreak with the passing of her beloved son, Karl, a loss she carried with quiet strength and unwavering faith.
In her final years, she resided at The Landing Independent Living in Carmichael, where she remained committed to daily meditation and exercise, living with mindfulness and purpose until the very end.
She leaves behind her cherished granddaughters, Samantha and Rachell, and her beloved great-grandson, Jordan, who brought her immense joy and light. Irene treasured her role as Omi and adored her family beyond measure. She believed deeply in an afterlife and found comfort in knowing she would one day be reunited with her loved ones.
Irene will be remembered for her resilience, kindness, spiritual devotion, artistic eye, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
A celebration of life will be January 31st at The Mill Valley community center from 12-2pm.

Rest in peace, dear Omi.
You are forever loved and remembered. ❤️
