Isreal was born on November 14, 1945 to Pearl Meyer Swift and Calvin Swift Sr. He was baptized at an early age by Rev. A Boykins of Fairland Baptist church in New Roads, Louisiana.
He entered into eternal rest on January16, 2026 at his home in Bronx, New York.
Isreal was affectionately known as "Beck" in New Roads and "Izzy" in New York.
He graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1965 and played the Bariton Horn in the marching band.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Calvin Swift Sr., six brothers; Clarance, L.C., Willie Roy, Alton, Cleveland and Calvin Jr., one precious granddaughter Jaleh and other relatives and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Dorthy Jean Swift of Bronx, New York, one sister Sabrina Swift Minor (Stanley Ray) of New Orleans,Louisiana, one son Steven Swift of New York, two brothers Jesse Swift of Dallas, Texas and James Isaac Swift (Linda) of New Roads, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial will be held at R. C. Ortiz Funeral Home, 2121 Westchester Ave. Bronx, New York on January 30, 2026 from 3-7pm.
