Iva Lavonne Bonasera, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in West St. Paul, Minnesota. Born to Robert and Ella Carlson on January 6, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Iva’s life was marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
Iva was the cherished wife of 67 years to Robert, and the loving mother of Mike (Robin), Mark (Lois), Nancy (Paul), and Tony (Aunna). She was also blessed with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Because of her gentle and selfless spirit, Iva was treasured as a nurse for many years. Her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Iva’s family treasured her many talents—quilting, sewing, playing the piano, and especially baking. She never ran out of hugs or cookies.
Above all, Iva was a woman of unwavering faith. Her relationship with God was the foundation of her life—guiding her decisions, shaping her character, and sustaining her through both joy and hardship. She was a devoted member of her church communities where she found deep purpose in worship, prayer, and service. Her faith was not only something she professed but something she lived daily—with grace, humility, and compassion.
Those who knew Iva will remember not only what she did but how she made them feel: loved. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. Details will be announced by the family.
