Ivan Janssen Wahl, 67, of Stoughton, MA, passed away on January 21, 2026. Born on October 15, 1958, Ivan was a dedicated individual known for his strong work ethic and deep convictions about family and life. He loved being a father and grandfather more than anything in the world.
After graduating from Stoughton High School, Ivan served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1985.His military service took him to some of his favorite places like California and Okinawa, Japan. Following his military service, he held various positions including working at Shaw’s Warehouse and a cable company. He later managed a liquor store with his brother-in-law before venturing into his own business in 2002. Ivan was the proud owner of Brewed Awakenings, a coffee shop in Quincy, Massachusetts where he delighted customers with fresh baked cookies, danishes and many more delicious treats.
His hobbies included baking, cooking, the outdoors, making people laugh, activities that reflected his nurturing spirit and love for creating warmth both in and out of the kitchen. As a young man he was an avid hiker and once hiked part of the Appalachian Trail. He shared his love for the outdoors with his children, by taking them fishing on Lake Massapoag and hiking in Borderland State Park. He enjoyed road trips with his family to Maine. His deep love for food would take him on hour-long drives to get a worthwhile meal. Through food he showed and shared his love with those lucky enough to enjoy his cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Y. Wahl; son, Antoine M. Wahl; daughter, Christine F. Wahl; grandchildren, Evelyn M. Sawlit and Daniel J. Sawlit; siblings, Thomas Wahl, Debbie Secor, Susan Ferrell, Richard Higgins, George Higgins, Leah Higgins Genander, Brenda Craig, Kevin Wahl, and Teddy Higgins; and many nieces and nephews. Ivan was preceded in death by his father, Stuart J. Wahl, brother Stuart J. Wahl Jr., and brother Carl Higgins.
