Jack Levy passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2026, at the age of 85.
Jack was born on March 3, 1940, in Bronx, New York, and grew up in Seattle, Washington. At just nine years old, he began working alongside his father at Pike Place Market, helping family members and forming a deep connection to the waterfront and its marine life. Those early days sparked a lifelong love of angling, watching the waters, and spending time in nature.
As a young adult, Jack returned to New York with his family, where he worked as a produce manager at Great Eastern Mills. He explored various professional paths, including real estate, always bringing his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit to everything he did.
Jack and Susan found each other and married, eventually returning to Seattle where they started Montessori schools together. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, Jack rediscovered the joy of his roots by opening a produce and cheese stand at Pike Place Market. He found great satisfaction in serving the community and building lasting relationships there.
Above all, Jack cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially his cousin, Jack Barouh. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth, humor, and love of nature will be deeply missed.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Morris Levy; his mother, Julia Levy; his sister, Rose; his brother, Elie; his former wife, Susan; and their son, Jason.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy Levy, with whom he shared 50 years; his son Galen and Galen’s partner, Tona, of Iowa; his grandchildren Tyler, Mirah, Michaela, Michael, Theresa, TJ, and Nathan; and his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Makaylynn, Oliver, Kieran, and Kianna.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Sonoma County, California.
