It is with heavy hearts we regretfully announce the passing of our dear and beloved brother, Jack Atlee Pomeroy Jr. of Howell, Michigan. Jack was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with COPD and cancer.
Jack was born on November 13,1950 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Donna Lee (Cowper) Pomeroy of Royal Oak, Michigan and Jack Atlee Pomeroy of Middleton, Michigan.
He grew up in a small town of Howell, Michigan, alongside his five siblings: Karin Lee Pomeroy; DeLynn and Mary Ellen (Pomeroy) McWilliams; Barbara Jean (Pomeroy) Self; and Kevin and Teresa (Aldrich) Pomeroy. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Jack is survived by his exceptional son, Nathaniel Parks Pomeroy and his two beloved grandchildren, Luke and Aurora Pomeroy. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Brian Bard Pomeroy, and his parents, Jack and Donna (Cowper) Pomeroy.
Jack's parents owned a children's store called Pomeroy's Kids Stuff, where he managed the Lansing store before starting his own business in antiques. He had a natural flair and giftedness for the arts, with a remarkable eye for design. He spent many years channeling his creativity into his work, restoring, buying, and selling antique treasures. In his later years, Jack became an avid collector of carnival glass, building a beautiful and cherished collection. He loved searching antique shops, old barns, estate sales, attics, and sheds, searching for forgotten pieces of treasured glassware.
Jack always had a deep appreciation for science and a desire to help the betterment of mankind through research, which led him to wish to donate his body to science.
In his free time, Jack enjoyed watching NFL football and NASCAR racing, as well as several History channel programs such as American Pickers, Antique Roadshow, and Pawn Stars. He loved spending his time swimming and fishing at Howell Lake and later in various locations after moving to Florida. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to rock and roll music, especially Stevie Nicks' song "Edge of Seventeen."
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2026, in Howell, Michigan. Additional details will be shared at a later time.
