Celebrating the Life and Spirit of Jack Edward Rofinot

With a spark in his eye and a heart full of adventure, Jack Edward Rofinot lived each day with infectious energy and boundless enthusiasm. Born on April 23, 1968, in San Diego, California, to John William Rofinot and Joan Marie Rofinot, Jack's curiosity and love for building things emerged early in life. By the age of nine, he had already built a model car that earned him a trip to Hawaii—a memory he cherished forever. His childhood was filled with trips to Navy bases with his father, where exploring ships and submarines helped spark a lifelong passion for mechanics and adventure.

Jack's formal journey into automotive excellence began at the Arizona Automotive Institute, where he earned a perfect attendance award, reflecting his dedication and strong work ethic. In 1992, he began his career at Carl Burger Dodge, where he honed his skills and formed lasting friendships. His expertise later led him to the City of San Diego, where he proudly served for more than 23 years as a master fleet mechanic, maintaining heavy equipment and the city's fleet of fire vehicles. Over time, his leadership and skill earned him the role of Fleet Repair Supervisor. Jack was widely respected for his ability to fix anything and for his willingness to help anyone, anytime.

Jack's love for mini trucks was legendary. He did not just drive them—he built them, customized them, and proudly showcased them. He founded the San Diego chapter of the truck club Choice, creating a community that turned into lifelong friendships. Car shows and truck runs were more than hobbies; they were celebrations of creativity, craftsmanship, and camaraderie. His passion for motorcycles provided another outlet for adventure, and he treasured every ride and adventure shared with his close-knit group of fellow riders.

Music was the soundtrack of Jack's life. He loved attending live shows, sharing playlists, and filling every gathering with laughter and song. His laugh—loud, genuine, and unforgettable—had a way of bringing people together.

Giving back was second nature to Jack. Through coaching softball, he inspired young athletes with encouragement, patience, and team spirit. At home, his beloved dogs were constant companions, sharing in both his adventures and quiet moments. Jack was also known for his culinary talents, with his legendary fried rice becoming a favorite among friends and family—always prepared with the same passion and flair he brought to everything he did.

Jack cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his daughter Taylor and son-in-law Wyatt Bloxham; his daughter Hailey Rofinot; his granddaughter, Rylee Bloxham; his mother, Joan Rofinot; and his sister, Ellen and brother-in-law Michael Hall. He was preceded in death by his father, John Rofinot. Jack's many interests brought together a wide and diverse circle of friends, whom he united like family. He never met a stranger, and his generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Jack passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at his home in La Mesa, California, surrounded by loved ones.

Jack's legacy lives on in the love he shared, the friendships he built, and the joy he brought into every moment. Whether he was working on engines, riding his motorcycle, coaching on the field, or rocking out to live music, Jack's zest for life was unmistakable. He will be remembered as a true original—and a friend to all.
