Jacqueline "Jackie" Burkhart, 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Hurst, Texas, on November 24, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jackie's life was a testament to faith, love, and unwavering kindness.
Born on May 4, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, Jackie was the daughter of Sue Catherine Thomas Powell Jones and Odell Wendell Jones. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lafayette High School. Her pursuit of higher education led her first to the University of Kentucky and later to Eastern Kentucky University. It was there that she met the love of her life, Steve Charles Burkhart. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together—one that would span more than five decades.
Jackie and Steve were married on August 14, 1971. Over the next 54 years, they built a life rooted in devotion to one another and their shared faith. Together they raised two children: their son Stephen Bruce Burkhart and their daughter Misty Dawn Miller. Jackie's family was her greatest joy. She poured her heart into nurturing her children and later found immense delight in being a grandmother.
Jackie spent many cherished years living in Euless, Texas—a place where neighbors became lifelong friends thanks to her warm heart and generous spirit. Her legacy is one of grace-filled living: she loved deeply, gave freely, served faithfully, and brought joy wherever she went.
A woman of deep faith, Jackie was an original member of First Baptist Church of Euless before becoming a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Colleyville. Her relationship with the Lord was central to every aspect of her life. She not only lived out her beliefs but also instilled them in her children and grandchildren. Jackie treasured every opportunity to serve within the church community—her presence was a source of encouragement and warmth to all who worshipped alongside her.
Jackie had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and valued. She never met a stranger—every new acquaintance quickly became a friend. Her genuine interest in people's lives made those around her feel welcomed and loved. Whether sharing stories over coffee or offering a listening ear during difficult times, Jackie's compassion left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Steve Charles Burkhart; her son Stephen Bruce Burkhart and his family; her daughter Misty Dawn Miller and her husband Steven Miller; her sisters Jill Olson and Joy Stagner; as well as her cherished grandchildren Brennan Miller; Cheyann Miller and fiancé Mitchel Hoyer; Karson Miller; and Brier Miller.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sue Catherine Thomas Powell Jones and Odell Wendell Jones.
Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, Jackie's legacy continues through the lives she touched with kindness and faith.
May Jacqueline "Jackie" Burkhart's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her and may it inspire others to live with the same open heart that defined hers so beautifully.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Cross City Church - 1000 Airport Fwy, Euless, Texas 76039.
