Jacqueline Hope Horton was born on February 2, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, and made Florida her permanent home in 1950.

She was married to her beloved husband, Elwood Ezra Horton, for 60 years. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2001, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Together, they raised five children.

A centenarian, Jacqueline remained closely tuned in to the lives of her family for nearly 103 years, keeping track of every detail, twist and turn, and milestone. She followed her family's lives with an attentiveness and devotion that rivaled any of her favorite soap operas.

In her own quiet way, she continually lifted her family in prayer, by name, every night.

She loved family updates and gossip! The joys, comedy, disappointments, and accomplishments—all of it kept her on the edge of her seat and gave her a reason to live.

Beautiful until her last breath, she was rare in all ways. She remained cognitively sharp, witty, and tuned in to current events. She had a little crush on Hannity and Jesse Watters, but we will say no more.

She was an incredibly faithful—and flirty—wife who, even after six decades of marriage, could still make her husband blush.

Jacqueline was a devoted mother, always there for her children. She was also a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who, at the age of 102, still knew every one of them by name.

She was not just a wife, mother, and grandmother; she was a friend and generous advisor—offering guidance on everything from your love life to who you should vote for.

Her home was affectionately known as "Jackie's Hotel" or "the Horton Train Station." Family constantly gathered there for gossip, think-tanking, and lively political discussions. It was also the party place, complete with dancing and poolside margaritas—her favorite festive drink.

But most importantly, it was where everyone came together to talk about the great things of God, His second coming, and the promise of eternal life (John 3:16).

Jacqueline lived with excited expectation for the great trumpet call. Her own personal rapture came on December 10, 2025.

She surely took her great love of ballroom dancing with her, now dancing on streets of gold. It is rumored that she and Elwood are dancing the "Swing" while their son Michael and his sweet grandsons look on.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Ezra Horton; her son, Michael Horton (December 2024); her parents, Elsie and Charles Russell; her brother, Robert Russell; her sister, Jean Russell Grandall (Velma); and her grandsons, Theo and Travis Ramirez.

She is survived by her children, Roger Horton, Gary Horton, Pamela Allen, and Suzanne Horton; and by more than 45 grandchildren, with her family continuing to grow across generations.

Jacqueline did share the secret to living to age 102: a beautiful husband, ballroom dancing, a steadfast faith in God, and taking one nap a day.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain forever alive in the hearts of all who loved her.
