James Angelos 91, formerly of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away on November 26, 2025 at home with his family in Odessa, Florida.
James was born on May 02, 1934 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Nikolaos and Salome (nee Panopalis) Aggelakhe.
He graduated from East Orange High School in 1952 and later attended both Wesleyan Military and Upsala College.
James was a US Army Veteran.
After marrying and starting a family, James worked for over 30 years as a Customer Ticket Agent with United Airlines at Newark International Airport. He then went on to work for the Holmdel Township Public Schools district as a Custodian in the Village School for 10 years before finally retiring at the age of 81.
As a boy, James was a diehard "Dem Bums" Brooklyn Dodger fan up until the day the baseball club moved to Los Angeles. Some of his favorite memories included taking the subway from NJ to NY, either alone or with his Mom, to attend Dodger games at Ebbets Field. Later as a father, he always enjoyed taking his young twin sons to fun filled opening day games to see the Bronx Bombers play, making it a tradition to always stop under a blue and yellow umbrella Sabrett hot dog cart before entering Yankee Stadium.
Dad was a hardworking, humble, and sweet man whose smile and quiet strength carried him through life and death with grace. He enjoyed his family and his downtime. Life was simple and included relaxing at home taking naps in the sun, babysitting granddaughters when they were young, or spending a day watching the horses race at Monmouth Park (one of his favorite places to unwind), enjoying a bowl of New England clam chowder and a beer.
He is survived by Ilene (nee Boone) his wife of 64 years; three daughters - Sally, Jennifer(Sean Kuhn), Alexis; two sons - Christopher, Stephen; three granddaughters - Lily, Hannah, Ruby; his brother Dean(Debbie (nee Keyes) of Wayland, Massachusetts, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Nicholas, and his two sisters - Carole Forcella of Clearwater, Florida and Marion Panos of Athens, Greece.
Interment in Rosedale Cemetery, West Orange, New Jersey.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers at Discovery Village of Trinity, Right at Home In Home Care, and Gulfside Hospice.
Dad, you are deeply missed by all of us who loved you.
