We are saddened to share the news of James Arthur Atyeo, Jr.'s passing on December 4, 2025, in Orange City, Florida. Born June 18, 1952, James was truly a renaissance man, passionate about photography, weaponry, music, inventing, reading, and audio. He believed that those who love their work never feel burdened by it—a sentiment reflected in his years as a photographer at Santa Fe College and in his dedication to teaching photography through community education. James cherished the time he spent with students, inspiring them to discover the art form.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Christine and James Atyeo, as well as siblings Sharon Donaldson and Robert Atyeo. Even though James has broken on through (to the otherside) his memory will be carried forward by his brother Walter Atyeo, sister-in-law Suzanne Atyeo, nephews Lee Donaldson and Anthony Atyeo, and niece Brandi Grovac. James's presence will be deeply missed.
After the holidays, we would like the opportunity to honor James's life with his friends, so Service details will be shared once arrangements are finalized. Instead of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund in his name. May he rest peacefully.
