James Henry Bowen, age 85, passed away comfortably September 12, 2025.
He follows his husband and long time partner John MW Hayek, and leaves many close friends.
Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, the only child of Vernon and Elizabeth Adelaide Bowen. He was a resident of Lake Worth, Florida, and in later years summer near Flushing, Michigan.
At the age of nine, his family moved to White's Beach near Pinconning, Michigan. Following his graduation from Pinconning High School he moved to Washington DC working as a technician for the FBI. He later joined the Air Force where he was stationed at Minot Air Force Base, Minot, ND. Returning to Flint he graduated from Flint Community College and went on to attend the University of Michigan Flint. He obtained some employment as a Greyhound Driver where he remained for 26 years and was based out of Chicago, Illinois. Following his separation from Greyhound he moved to Lake Worth, Florida, where he gained the position of Examiner for the Florida's Division of Driver's License, where he remained and until his retirement in 1999.
Mr. Bowen was an avid amusement park enthusiast, especially roller coasters and toured the United States and abroad, enjoying his hobby. A long time member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, the National Amusement Park Historical Association and National Carousel Association where he made longtime friends.
Following his cremation, a private service and reception was held.
