He enjoyed a joyful and active childhood and, at the young age of 17, enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a seaman during the Vietnam War and receiving an honorable discharge. Throughout his life, James proudly raised three sons—Rashid, James II, and Aziz—ensuring his legacy lived on. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, a brother, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loved ones.
In his later years, James settled in Virginia, where he purchased a home and lived peacefully until his passing on January 15, 2026. James was known for his positive attitude and warm, vibrant smile. He often said, "If you can do good, you can do better, but as long as you do your best, that's all you can do," and he was undoubtedly the best father.
