James "Jim" Ralph Brooks, 78, passed away at his home in Los Angeles, California, on January 28, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1947, in Spokane, Washington.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. His honorable service was recognized with multiple military commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he worked as a transportation driver in the motion picture industry for 26 years before retiring and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 399.

Jim was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He had a passion and love for animals, motorcycles, tattoos, storytelling, and enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. He was also an avid collector who found enjoyment in gathering and preserving items that interested him. Known by family and friends as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand, Jim was dependable and quietly generous to those close to him. His steady presence and willingness to help others will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Tammy Eschette (Brooks), Shane Brooks, Magen Brooks, and Cheyenne Brooks. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Brooks, Kymberly Longoria, Joel Aguirre, Aiden Brooks, Emery Schoonover, and Everlee Schoonover, as well as seven great-grandchildren and his sister, Linda Brooks.

Jim will be remembered for his service to his country, his pride in his career, and the strength and kindness he showed throughout his life.

Service details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
