James Csaposs

1931 - 2025

James Csaposs, aged 94, passed away on October 12, 2025, from Maywood, NJ.

Born on September 9, 1931, at home in East Paterson, NJ to parents Frank and Elizabeth Csaposs, James graduated cum laude from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1953.

He served as a flight instructor in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957 at the USAF Training Command, Furstenfeld Bruck, Germany . Following his military service, James worked as a design engineer at Bendix Aviation in Teterboro, NJ from 1957 to 1969 designing electro mechanical computers for jet aircraft including the F111 fighter jet. He then became a Marketing Manager at Curtiss Wright from 1969 until 1970, and then served as Chief Product Engineer at Springfield Instrument Company in Hackensack, NJ, from 1970 until his retirement in 1993. He also created Shalimar Enterprises for the Amigo Scooter Co., enhancing the lives of those with mobility challenges.

James was an active participant in Maywood City Council meetings, assisting the Borough Engineer and was a dedicated consultant for accessibility needs of buildings and vehicles in the community. His mechanical skills were not just professional but also personal, he enjoyed fixing anything broken and tinkering with many projects.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Fox Csaposs; sister Joyce Ball; sons Richard and Larry Csaposs; grandchildren Alana, Henry, Steven, and Carl Csaposs. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Csaposs and his sister Judith Shaw.

James was dedicated to engineering, community service and to his family. He will be dearly missed.
