James Phillip Dolan, loving son of James and Margaret Dolan, nee McGinnis, dear Brother of Thomas J. [Natasha], John F. [Anne] and Rosemary [Thomas], proud Uncle of Daniel, Susanne, Thomas and Mary Margaret. James was baptized in the Roman Catholic faith at St. Thomas Apostle Church in 1937. He graduated from St. Sabina Grammar School in 1951, Leo High School in 1956, Wilson Junior College 1960, DePaul University, B.A. 1964 and Loyola University, M.S. 1970. He spent most of his working life as an employee of the City of Chicago [1965-1993]. He began as a Position Classification Technician and concluded as a Supervising Personnel Analyst in the Position Classification Division of the Personnel Department. James was not politically sponsored and was hired and promoted on the basis of his qualifications and performance alone. In his retirement James devoted himself to quiet, solitary pleasures such as reading, movies, music and exercise. At times he could be considered a curmudgeon. He most enjoyed: The Harold Washington Library, The Gene Siskal Film Center and The Milt Rosenberg Radio Program. Even towards the end of his life James was willing to take on new challenges. During his final years he retained the passion for learning new things. His word was his bond and did his best with the natural gifts he was given. May he Rest in Peace.
