James Travis Heath

1942 - 2026

James T. Heath, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on October 12, 1942, in the scenic hills of Marshall County, West Virginia, James was the son of James Willard Heath and Mary Lou Burd. His life was a testament to hard work, humor, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that life offers.

James's early years were spent in the heart of West Virginia, where he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960. It was there that he began to lay the foundation for a life dedicated to craftsmanship and community. As a journeyman carpenter, he spent his career building not only structures but also lasting relationships and a legacy of integrity and skill. His craftsmanship was not just a profession but a passion, evidenced by the countless homes and projects that still stand today as a testament to his dedication and talent.

In 2006, James retired alongside his beloved wife, Leila, to Springdale, Arkansas. Their years together were marked by laughter, and a deep, abiding love that was evident to all who knew them. Though Leila preceded him in death, the love and memories they created together remained a guiding light in James's life.

James had a profound love for the game of golf and found peace and joy in the quiet moments on the course. His passion for baseball led him to found the "Boys of Summer" baseball reunion in Moundsville, West Virginia, a gathering that celebrated friendship and the nostalgic charm of summer days gone by.

James was a proud father and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy that includes his two sons, Jason and Justin, and four grandchildren.

A private ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the memories of James's laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will forever echo in the lives of those he touched. May we find comfort in the enduring impact of his life well-lived and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind.

James will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Moundsville, WVA.
