James N. "Jim" Brautigan II passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on September 24, 1965, following the passing of his father, SSG James Norbert Brautigan, who passed away while on active duty as a Green Beret February 2,1965. Jim lived his life as a man of faith, guided by a deep belief in helping others whenever he saw someone in need.

Jim was comfortable in nearly any setting and was known for his sharp sense of humor, which stayed with him even as he courageously battled leukemia in his final days.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Norbert Brautigan, and his brother, Zachary Lutz. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Lutz; his stepfather, Kent Lutz; his sisters, Lori (Bob) Parks, Susan Rauh, and Heather (Gray) Walker; and his brother, Nick (Melissa) Lutz, 13 nieces and nephews, and Randy Chenot, who Jim considered to be his son.

A gifted storyteller and passionate lover of music, Jim had a distinctive voice that could fill any room. Whether performing his own songs or those he admired, he shared his love of music with everyone around him. His voice and spirit will be deeply missed.

Jim also had a tremendous love for dogs and was a dedicated supporter of local animal shelters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Cincinnati, where Jim's beloved dogs are being cared for at the Sharonville location.

There will be a private graveside service on April 17, followed by a public celebration of life from 1pm to 3pm at Oriental Wok, 317 Buttermilk Pike, Lakeside Park, KY.
