James "Jim" F. Castiola, 80, of Terryville, husband of Alma (Hall) Castiola, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Bristol Hospital. He was born November 9, 1945, in New Britain, son of the late John J. and Anna (Smith) Castiola.

Jim was a hardworking man and a skilled provider, employed by FadCo in Bristol prior to his retirement. He was a man who loved the outdoors and the simple life, feeling most at home at his cabin in Vermont, where he spent years hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his family and close friends. He was a lifelong football fan and a fixture in the Terryville community, remembered by many for his upbeat, lighthearted spirit.

In addition to his wife, Alma, Jim leaves behind his daughter, Tina and her husband Edward Marshall of Corpus Christi, TX; his son James Peter Castiola of Boston, MA; his two sisters, Stephanie "Steph" Mensel of Bristol and Theresa "Tess" Luther of Terryville; his two sisters-in-law, Ermine (Cassella) Castiola of Manchester and Dolores "Dee" (DelSanto) Castiola of Southington; his nieces, Veronica and her husband Jeff Giroux of Glastonbury and Sarah and her husband Kevin Applewhite of Cheshire; his nephews, Frederick "Rick" Mensel and his wife Michelle of Bristol, Randy Mensel and his wife Darcy of Harwinton, Robert "Rob" Luther and his wife Deborah of Terryville, Edward Castiola of Southington and John "Jackie" Castiola of Canon City, CO.

He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Lisa (Hawley) Mariotti of Bristol; his two grandsons Joshua Angelillo of Berlin and Jake Mariotti of Wolcott and his great grandsons, Levi, Crosby, Tucker, and Whitton along with many extended family members.

Jim was predeceased by his second wife, Tekla "Tillie" (Hriceniak) Castiola, his brothers, John "Jack" and Edward "Moon" Castiola, his brothers-in-law Frederick "Freddy" Mensel and Reinhard "Ron" Luther and his niece Wendy (Luther) Wargo.

Jim will be remembered for his easy-going down to earth spirit, his love of the Vermont woods, and the deep, complex roots he planted across Connecticut, Vermont, and beyond.

Services for Jim will be private. Scott Funeral Home in Terryville, is assisting with the arrangements.
A private tribute will be held by his daughter to honor his memory.
