He then transferred to Carson Newman and ultimately graduated from the University of Georgia.
Jimmy was a man of honor, faith, and service. He proudly served his country with dedication and courage in the United States Navy, serving as a First Lieutenant aboard a Destroyer Escort and was discharged in 1946. Following his military service, he made his home in Washington, GA, where he built a life centered on family, community, and enduring relationships. He was a longtime and devoted member of Washington Presbyterian Church.
Jimmy shared his love of tennis, golf, and the outdoors with his children and spent countless hours with his grandchildren, peeling apples in the hay barn as they built forts and raced from one end to the other.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary Bounds Reynolds, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Helen Hodgson, Deleon Reynolds, Liz Reynolds, Carolyn Lamkin, and Josephine Bryson.
Jimmy is survived by his three devoted children: Dr. James M. Reynolds and wife Cindy of Knoxville, TN; Ann R. Gordon and husband Johnny of Raleigh, NC; and Hamilton Reynolds and wife Julia of Atlanta, GA.
