James Kelly Jones of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at St. Francis Bartlett Hospital at the age of 49.
Kelly was a beloved husband and father and a friend to all who met him. He leaves behind his wife, Aimee Merriman Jones, his son, Landon Wade Jones and his daughter Allie Ruth Jones. In addition he leaves behind his sister, Shelly Jones Gammell (Dailey) and a niece, Sydney Gammell as well as numerous extended family members and an over-abundance of close and long time friends and co- workers. Kelly was preceded in death by his mother Rebecca Jones.
Kelly was a co-owner of Memphis Boring and Tunneling. Kelly and his partner Tommy Smith (Dora) grew it from a small business to a large productive company.
As well as being a loving husband and father, hard worker and caring friend, Kelly was an avid fisherman and wildlife hunter who taught his children to love the sport. From a young age he also enjoyed water sports at the family vacation home at Woodlawn Shores on the Tennessee River where he is loved and known by so many.
Kelly will be forever loved and our hearts are broken. He will be missed always by everyone whose life he touched. Kelly was a generous and selfless giver until the very end, honoring life through the donation of his organs.

There will be a Celebration of Life January 10, 2026 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. 2949 Davies Plantation Road Lakeland TN 30002. Visitation starts at 10am with a service to follow at 11am.
