James Lewis, Jr.

James Lewis Jr., 59, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on April 7, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born August 5, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, to James and Etheline Lewis. James graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1984, where he played football, and later attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Persian Gulf War on the USS Constellation and later worked for the United States Postal Service. James was extremely proud of family and his military service, he will be remembered for his humor, warmth, and willingness to help others

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lewis Sr.; his grandparents Luther and Pauline Lewis and Isom Jr. and Ellen Keaton; and his beloved son, Armando Lewis. He is survived by his loving mother, Etheline Hill; his bonus mom, Judith Boyd; siblings, Gayl Lawson, Cynthia Lewis, Jennifer Boyd, Angela Glass (Jason), Anthony Adair (Ronda), and brother-in-law Ryan Lawson Sr.

James also leaves behind his cherished children: Anissa Dangerfield, Ashley Tisby, Megan Lewis Gilbert, Kouri Hunter, Jenna Lewis, Marcus Lewis, Tianna Joyce, Ceprian McClaron, Elece Alexander, Sherrod Davis, and his bonus daughter, Precious Marshall, bonus sons, Morris Smith, Antoine Tisby, and Rakim McCoy. James has 24 grandbabies, one great-grandbaby, and counting... a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is also survived by his high school sweetheart and first wife, Athena, and former wives, Diane and Mary Jo. His life and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

At James' request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
