James William Lyons Jr. passed away on January 10, 2026 after a full and beautiful life.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Lyons. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Courtney Finley, and her husband, Clayton, and to his son, Christopher Lyons, and his wife, Jacqueline. In his later years, his greatest joy was being "Pops" to his beloved granddaughters, Naomi and Neave, who were a constant source of joy and light in his life. He also adored Chris's dog, Lolly, with whom he shared a special bond.
Jim is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Kathleen Lyons, Mary and Ray Boudreau, and John and Maria Lyons, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply. He leaves behind his lifelong best friends, Charles Walsh and John "Digga" Clasby, whose friendships spanned decades and meant the world to him. His friendship with John Kennedy was filled with many years of laughter. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret Lyons.
A proud Double Eagle, Jim was a graduate of Boston College High School and Boston College, before going on to earn his MBA from Dartmouth College. He built a successful career as a sales executive at AT&T, but his true pride was always his family. Jim was a constant presence on the sidelines, rarely missing a game or event—unless, of course, he was coaching it himself.
A Boston Crusaders Hall of Famer, Jim's passion for the organization ran deep. He traveled across the country for years in support of the Crusaders, forming lifelong friendships along the way. One of his greatest joys was witnessing the Boston Crusaders win the national championship this past summer—a long-awaited and deeply cherished moment.
In his later years, Jim found his happiest moments with his grandchildren. Pops never missed a chance for playtime, laughter, or Disney magic, and he especially treasured their annual trips to Disney World. His love for Naomi and Neave will live on in the memories they carry forever.
Jim will be remembered for his loyalty, passion, quick witted humor, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He was the kind of man who showed up consistently, wholeheartedly, and without hesitation. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship established in his name to support a Boston Crusader in the upcoming season—an idea of Jim's intended to help give a young performer the opportunity to have the incredible experience he cherished.
