James Allen Markland, 55, passed away on January 16, 2026, in Dunedin, Florida. Born on January 30, 1970, in Johnson City, Tennessee, James lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and an infectious spirit that brought joy to everyone around him.
James built a fulfilling career in HVAC and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed every moment of it, finding satisfaction not only in the craft but also in the people he met along the way. His strong work ethic and commitment to doing things right earned him respect among colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work, James was a man of many passions. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors, where he found peace and connection with nature. A devoted football fan, he cheered passionately for the Georgia Bulldogs, his loyalty unwavering through every season. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and his beloved dogs. Whether it was a quiet day at home or a lively gathering, James cherished every moment spent with those he loved.
He believed deeply in God and found strength and guidance through reading his Bible. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and helped shape the caring and resilient person he was.
James had a personality that could light up any room. Goofy and bubbly by nature, he had an uncanny ability to make others smile no matter what challenges he faced himself. Outgoing and generous to a fault, he would do anything for anyone without hesitation. His strength of character and loving heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Among his proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted father to Macey Cox, Taylor Markland, and Payton Smith. & grandfather to Kingston , Kamari Axytn , Ady & Michael. His love for them—and for their children—was boundless.
James is also remembered by his siblings: sister Sandy, brother Randy, sister Ann; as well as many more brothers and sisters who held special places in his heart. He leaves behind nephews Mark and Chris; Colby; Brantley; Jax; and niece Kelly & aunt Rachel —all of whom were touched by his warmth and humor.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margret and father Freddy.
