James Robert "Jamie" McIntire passed away on June 11, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 53 years old. Born on April 7, 1972, in Bedford, Ohio, Jamie lived a life marked by service, resilience, and deep connections with those around him.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Jamie served as a Specialist (SPC) and Cavalry Scout (19D) with Air Assault training during the Persian Gulf era. He was a member of the distinguished 11th Armored Cavalry Black Horse Regiment. His military service reflected his courage and commitment to duty—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
Jamie was laid to rest with full military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on September 10, 2025. The ceremony was attended by many family members and friends who gathered to honor his memory and pay tribute to his service.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother Edward P. McIntire and Edward's wife Beth; his stepsister Annemarie Kovach and her husband Dan; his nieces Cheyenne M. McIntire-Boise and her husband Micah, and Katelynn B. McIntire; as well as three great-nieces and two great-nephews. Jamie also leaves behind many extended family members and amazing friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia J. Wheaton; his brother Gregory S. McIntire; and his stepfather James W. Wheaton.
Jamie's passing occurred at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland following an admission for suicidal ideation, a solemn reminder of the invisible wounds carried by many who serve.
May James Robert "Jamie" McIntire be remembered with honor and compassion. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
