James Patrick Shortsleeve

James Patrick Shortsleeve, 82, passed away on October 4, 2023, in Woodbury, CT. Born on February 14, 1941, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family and his passions.
James worked in shipping and receiving at Jamesbury Corporation in Worcester, MA, where he was known for his hardworking and meticulous nature. Beyond his professional life, James was an enthusiastic sports fan, loyally supporting the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. He also had a passion for NASCAR races, which he attended regularly, reveling in the thrill and camaraderie of the sport.
Family was at the core of James's world. He cherished moments spent with his family, especially with his only grandchild, Emma. Together, they shared countless hours crafting and painting, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
James is survived by his daughter, Tara (Shortsleeve) Golden of Woodbury, CT; son, Robert Shortsleeve of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Emma Golden of Woodbury, CT; sister, Kathleen (Shortsleeve) Smith of Vermont; brother, Paul Shortsleeve and his wife JoAnne of Sterling, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine (Gannon) Shortsleeve; brothers, Charles, Robert, Richard, and Leo Shortsleeve; and sister, Margaret (Shortsleeve) Mullaney.
James's life was one of simple pleasures, deep family bonds, and a love for sports that brought him joy and excitement. He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who made every moment count.
