James Leroy "Jim" Stanek, 83, passed away on November 28, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. Born on April 7, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force, demonstrating a commitment to duty that would carry through every chapter of his life. After completing his military service, he pursued a career as an electronics repairman before settling into a long tenure as a diesel mechanic for Manatee County school buses. His work ensured the safe transportation of countless students over the years—a responsibility he took seriously and performed with pride.
In 1974, Jim moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he would spend the remainder of his life. Known for his mechanical skill and problem-solving abilities, he was also recognized for something even more enduring: his willingness to help others. Whether lending a hand or offering a kind word, Jim gave freely of his time and energy—always with a smile.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon (Schultz) Stanek and their son James R. Stanek. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Connee J. Hancock (John), Susan A. Lamb, and Joyce L. Stanek. His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
