James Lemar Wood Sr.

James Lemar Wood Sr, 69, of Lutz Fl, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2025 following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born in Tampa in 1956 to Tom and Marguerite Wood as the second of three children. He attended Chamberlain High School before marrying his wife, Patricia, on December 4th, 1976. Together they had five children: Jennifer (Kristian), Jessica, Jacqueline (Justin), Joanna, James Jr, and five grandchildren. He never met a stranger, and would often delight in telling people he met about his beloved children.
James was a jack of all trades, having owned his own excavation business for many years, worked as a newspaper deliveryman, in radio, and finally in facilities management at the Tampa Museum of Art and the Carrollwood Cultural Center. He was also a past member of the Freemasons and the Order of the Eastern Star.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James, Jr.
A celebration of life and reception will be held on January 10th at 2pm in Fellowship Hall at Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Tampa.
