April 23,1945- February 4,2026 aged 80

Jamie Haley McGlone, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, lifelong educator, pastor's wife and radiant bearer of joy, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior surrounded by her family on February 4,2026 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Born in Fort Pierce, Florida, Jamie lived a life marked by creativity, courage, and an unstoppable spirit of celebration. She was a woman of valor and was filled with passionate love for her Lord, her husband and best friend Fred, her family, her students, and the simple beauty of the Gospel.

Jamie studied for her master's degree in education from Michigan State University and dedicated her career to shaping young minds with compassion and critical thought. She taught high school English, History, Classical Christian Worldview, Writing, and Literature. Above all, she taught STUDENTS and she loved to challenge and cheer people on as they became who they were created to be. She mentored countless student teachers from MSU and other universities, and together with her beloved husband Fred, she helped found a K-12 Christian school in Lansing, Michigan, which continues to thrive and bear fruit today.

A woman of deep faith, Jamie loved worshipping Jesus and found special delight in praising God with family and friends at New Covenant Christian Church. She was a prayer warrior and she cherished sharing the gospel and God's love with everyone she met, often turning ordinary encounters into opportunities for encouragement and truth.

Jamie's greatest joys were found in the people she loved. She adored spending time with her husband and best friend of over 58 years, Fred McGlone...her favorite place in the world was simply right next to him, wherever life took them. She loved nothing more than sharing their love with those around them.

She delighted in feeding table scraps to her dog Bailey, savoring fresh raspberries, homemade apple crisp and pie, sharp cheddar cheese so strong that it made you gasp, and the cherished family recipe "Louisiana Put-together." A lifelong Michigan State Spartan, she enjoyed cheering for Spartan football. She was a voracious reader and loved to annotate and underline passages with her thoughts and observations.

Jamie lived with exuberant joy and her favorite saying captured her spirit perfectly, "Never pass up an opportunity to CELEBRATE!"

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Fred McGlone; her sister Susan Haley; their two daughters, Elizabeth McGlone and Rachel (Glenn) Hedin; grandchildren Taylor Roddenberg, Glenn Hedin Jr., Nikola Hedin, and Esther Hedin; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Kathy McGlone; and cousins Marylou Terrien, George (Jenny) Goodell, and Irene (Sub) Bagby.

Jamie is reunited in heaven with her parents, Gilbert and Janet Haley; her three beloved children lost in miscarriage; and her grandson Wyatt Roddenberg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jamie's memory to New Covenant Christian School in Lansing, Michigan.

Fred's love poem to Jamie speaks the hope they both held:

What you've sown in your tears you're now reaping in joy,

As in God's precious presence NEW songs you employ,

And your Father in Heaven has heard your heart's cry- He is answering your prayers and He will not deny,

All the blessings you've asked for your family and friends,

He'll fulfill those desires for His love never ends.

So Jamie now you are at home and at rest,

We know deep in your heart that you've longed for God's best.

And we too can rejoice that the Good News is true,

If we trust the Lord Jesus, once more we'll see you.

Together we'll meet at the foot of the throne,

Of the One who has saved us by His grace alone.

For He died for our sins, wide or narrow in scope

It's a good thing He did or we'd die without hope.

With no promise of heaven, we'd drown in our grief,

And the pain of each loss would be without relief.

But because of the cross, we're redeemed and that's how,

Even death's not "good-bye," it's just "so long for now!"

Jamie's legacy of love, learning, and unshakeable faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is now at home and at peace, dancing joyfully with her Savior.
