Jane Delgado-Shadid, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away February 9, 2026.
Jane was born in Chicago on March 6, 1940, to Cliff and Mildred Emahiser. Her heritage reflected a rich blend of cultures: her father was of German descent, and her mother was born in Czechoslovakia. Jane further embraced this diversity through her marriages—first to Ernest Delgado, of Mexican descent, and later, following his death, to Woodrow "Woody" Shadid, of Lebanese descent.
Jane and Ernie were blessed with four daughters: Theresa (Craig), Susan, Debra, and Leslie (Brad). Through her marriage to Woody, she also gained two stepsons, Bill (Jean) and Steve (Marge).
She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Christina (Josh), Elena (Cody), Anthony (Lauren), Alecia (Chance), Angel, Alex (Lee), and Shelby (Austin). An eighth granddaughter, Bonnie, preceded her in death.
Beyond her love for family, Jane built a fulfilling career as a restaurant owner and worked for many years in sales.
Jane had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm, welcoming spirit. She loved her dogs, enjoyed walking, cooking, eating, and spending time with family and friends. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, including the nurses and aides at Nazareth Clifton who cared for her so compassionately as her health declined. After a courageous battle, cancer—combined with treatment, age, and dementia—proved too much for her to overcome.
Jane will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local animal shelter or to cancer research.
