Jane Anne Hudak, 84, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on December 21, 2025.
Jane was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on July 13, 1941, to Rita and Lawrence Krause. She grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin, alongside her four brothers—Larry, Jim, Mark, and David.
Jane carried a deep affection for childhood wonder and learning, and those themes shaped the way she lived and worked.
Jane married Benjamin Landwehr, and became the loving mother of three children: Pamela Holmes (spouse David Holmes deceased), Steven Landwehr (spouse Jackie Landwehr), and Carl Landwehr (spouse Jodi Landwehr). Jane was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren—roles she cherished deeply.
She had a lifelong love of children and learning. In her early working years, Jane served in schools as a proctor and librarian, always drawn to the energy of classrooms and the promise of young minds.
She also poured her energy into family life and community—leading Girl Scouts, and enjoying bowling, dancing, camping, and snowmobiling with her young family and friends.
Jane was a strong person in a small package. In a move that reflected her grit and determination, Jane returned to school as an older adult, earning a business degree and later completing her teaching credentials. She went on to become a teacher, and her life was enriched by the many students she had the privilege to encourage and guide—faces and moments she carried with her.
That strength, God’s grace, and the fact that she was waiting for the next “Harry Potter “ novel helped her be a cancer survivor.
She did enjoy those stories!
Jane’s full life included another loving marriage to Gary Hudak, who preceded her in death, and again her faith and strength helped her endure.
She was blessed with lifelong friendships, extended family who fondly called her “Aunt Jane,” and countless memories made through the ordinary joys that come from time together, celebrations, and simple fun.
Card games, Packer football, bird names and planting flowers will always carry a reminder of Jane for many who knew her.
She will be remembered with love.
