Janet Lou Belben, 71, passed away on Christmas Eve 2025.
Born August 4, 1954 in Middleborough, MA to the late Kenneth and Myra (Fuller) Belben, Janet made her home in Loudon, NH for over 40 years—but her heart truly belonged to the ocean, especially the beaches and lighthouses of Maine.
The proud mother of two sons, Bruce and Jamie Griswold, Janet also loved Bruce's wife, Stephanie, like a daughter. She treasured her grandchildren and the memories she made with them, whether everyday moments or shared adventures. She was grateful for her devoted friends, who helped foster her strength and independence.
She was proud of the life she built herself and worked hard to maintain it. Though technically "retired," Janet never fully slowed down—continuing to work for both the State of NH's Department of Corrections and Home Depot, positions she'd held for decades. And she still found time for trips to her favorite places and the occasional rock concert.
In addition to her sons and their families, Janet is survived by her brother Ralph and her sister Brenda. A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends at a later date.
Equal parts soft-spoken and sweet, and spunky and hilarious, she was truly one of a kind. When those who loved her visit the beach, we know Janet will be there with us.
