Janet Rust Margerison

We are so very sad to announce that Janet Rust Margerison is “Boots Off The Ground”, as she liked to say. After a long and very courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends, on 3/15/2026 in Myakka City, FL.

I believe she would say her biggest accomplishment was her sobriety of 32 years. The members of her AA groups throughout the years were incredibly meaningful and precious to her and played a significant role in her success.

Janet was someone who always put others first. She brought joy to everyone she met, always saw the best in people, and deeply loved her family and friends. Her sense of humor was endless. And she loved to make the most stern person crack a smile. Additionally, her kindness extended beyond people to her horses, pets and all animals. She would stop traffic to move a turtle off the road, safely move spiders outside, and truly appreciated the beauty in all creatures.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The joy she brought will live on in our hearts forever. There will be a celebration of her life in May. The date is pending.
