Born in Summit, NJ, Janet graduated from the Agnes Irwin School and Pine Manor College. She was a committed volunteer, serving as a member of the Junior League of Boston and the Vincent Club, and as President of the Exeter chapter of Child and Family Services.
After raising her children, Janet obtained her interior design degree and went into business with a small interior design firm before establishing her own business. She was a talented decorator who brought her enormous creative abilities to her clients. She had a rare gift for listening and creating spaces that truly reflected and realized her clients' hopes and aspirations. Her three daughters benefited from her talents as well, engaging her to help design truly beautiful rooms in their homes. Her visual and creative talents also were expressed through her needle point. She didn't merely execute a design but had the confidence and ability to embellish and refine it, resulting in finer work.
She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and passed along the many stories and accomplishments of her Scottish relatives. As a family, we traveled to Scotland to the area where our relatives were from, visiting graves and a mill that was run by an ancestor of ours. We met some living relatives, which further deepened our connection to our history.
Most of all, she was a loving and caring mother who was full of life and laughter, with a keen wit and intellect. Her marriage with Lloyd was a true love story. She instilled in her children and grandchildren high standards and values and the importance of friends and family. We miss her terribly and are grateful for her love.
