Janet Catherine Thompson, 90, of Saline, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was the only girl among 6 brothers, born February 3, 1936 in a close-knit home in Milan, Michigan to Catherine Caroline Wanty and Ernest William Schrock. Her spiritual foundation was rooted first in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church Milan, then in Christ Our King Lutheran Church Saline. Her steadfast faith in Christ remained a beacon of light throughout her lifetime.

Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking and will always be remembered for out-fishing everyone in her family. With her late husband, Guy Bradley Thompson II, they ran Sandalwood Kennels where they showed and bred amazing Labrador retrievers and instilled a love for the breed with their family. Janet was known above all for her passion for gardening and love for sharing a cup of coffee with family and friends.

Janet is survived by her husband, John Iwaniec; her brother, Donald Schrock; and her children Liz Boonstra-Thompson and her husband Jaap (Guy, Ted, Tom and Kees); Laurie Montgomery and her husband Donn (Nathan, Christopher, and Elizabeth); and Guy Bradley Thompson III (Chip) and his wife Victoria (Alexandra, Cassandra, Johnathon and Olivia). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Guy Bradley Thompson II, and her brothers Raymond, Lester, Ernest, Kenneth, and David.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Saline, Michigan, 3255 Saline Waterworks Rd. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am. Donations can be made to Christ Our King Lutheran Church.
