It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Moen Williams, 79, on October 7, 2025.

Born January 30, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, to Robert and Marion Moen , Janet was a graduate of Portland State University and Columbia Teachers College. She moved to Torrance, California, in 1975, to begin her teaching career, and met Kit Williams, a fellow resident in her apartment building. They married on March 30, 1977, eventually having two children together: John (1979) and Lara (1982).

Janet worked for the Redondo Beach City School District (later the Redondo Beach Unified School District). Her passion was teaching Science, which she did at Adams and Parras (formerly Hillcrest) Middle Schools for over 40 years, until her retirement in 2008. Her students remember her as a firm but caring teacher, dedicated to preparing them for high school and beyond.

Janet was known as a master quilter, having spent countless hours studying designs and carefully crafting exquisite pieces. Although many were given to friends and family, she donated most to newborns, women's shelters, and other charitable endeavors. She often volunteered her time to teach quilting and sewing at church as well.

Janet was also active in the Boy and Girl Scouts, particularly with her children, as a Den and Troop Leader.

Janet is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gregory Kit Williams; son, John (wife Camila); daughter, Lara (husband Steve); and grandchildren Robert, Juliana, Joshua, and Deegan.
