Janice Cornell (Tourgee), age 90, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Littleton, New Hampshire.
Born on July 7, 1935, in Coventry, Rhode Island, Janice lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family and service. She dedicated many years of her career to the State of Rhode Island’s school lunch program and food services division at Rhode Island Medical Center, where she contributed to the well-being of countless students and residents. She was an avid bowler and card player. She was also a long time member of Eastern Star.
Janice was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her son Keith; daughter Cindy Fraser and her husband Kevin; grandchildren Candice Asselin and her husband Dale, Tonya Lesiuk and her husband Scott, Kevin Fraser Jr. and his wife Amy, and Alexis Cornell; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings Loxi Ellingwood and her husband David, Brian Tourgee and his wife Stephny; as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished her presence in their lives.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry, with whom she shared 33 years of marriage. Janice was also preceded in death by her siblings Russell Tourgee, Phyllis Lewis, Gilbert Tourgee, Carol Parente, Lynn Leber, and Sharon Pero. Daughter In-Laws Christy and Lynda.
Janice will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—someone who was deeply family-oriented and warmly social with everyone she met. Her home was always open to loved ones, filled with laughter, stories, and the comforting aroma of shared meals.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Riverglen House Assisted Living in Littleton, New Hampshire. The compassionate staff and fellow residents there became more than caregivers—they became family.
May Janice’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Graveside Service will be held April 18, 2026 at Woodland Cemetery Coventry, RI corner of Knotty Oak Rd and Rt. 117 for family and friends.
