Janice Elaine Stokes was called home to God at the age of 77 on January 31, 2026. She was born Janice Elaine Miles on September 13,1948 to Aldean Wilson Miles Sr. and Ethel Mae Miles in Gary, Indiana. She welcomed God in her life at a very young age; all who knew Jan could attest to that. Her true love of God and pure generosity reflected on all she encountered. It shined through in her walk, talk, and actions. She literally gave the shirt off of her back to a stranger without hesitation and kept moving on about her day. Her mere presence would light up any room. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband, Robert Stokes Jr.; only daughter, Crystal (Joseph) Rodriguez; grandsons: Jovanni Paul Rodriguez and Joseph (Analee) Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Jaxon and Mari Rodriguez; brothers, Anthony (Marilyn) Miles, Aldean (Kathy) Miles Jr; only sister, Carol Miles Underwood; special nieces: Candice Smith-Walker and Britney Underwood; godchildren: LaShawnda & Tamara Davis; Jerome, Miles, & Taylor Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and very close friends who will greatly miss her presence. Visitation, Monday February 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00a.m. All services at The Turning Point Church 2535 Pike Street Lake Station, Indiana 46405. Dr. Kevin L. Gilkey, Pastor and Rev. Al Miles Jr., Officiant. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
