Janice Marlene Truxon, 82, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Severn, MD. Born December 11, 1943, Janice dedicated over four decades to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher at Richard Henry Lee Elementary. She retired in 2002 after a distinguished career marked by a Master of Education from Bowie State College, Certificate of Appreciation from Richard Henry Lee and an Executive Citation from the citizens of Anne Arundel County and the Governor among other awards. Even after aneurysm surgery in 2006 she went back as a substitute teacher at Richard Henry Lee.
Janice was a pillar of kindness and support, often described as a saint by those who knew her. She taught various subjects across Kindergarten through sixth grade, leaving lasting impact on countless students. Her commitment to education and her community was profound and deeply appreciated.
She was a loving member of Metropolitan United Methodist of Severn, where she participated actively in church activities. Janice personal life was filled with joy as she cherished moments spent playing tennis at Bowie State College and embracing her role as a grandmother.
Janice is survived by her son Darren R. Truxon Sr., : daughter in law, Katherine B. Truxon; grandson, Darren R. Truxon Jr.; granddaughter in law, Veronica Rae Duvall; granddaughter Kaytlin R. Plempel; granddaughter daughter in law, Mckenzie Plempel; five sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Her parents, William A. Truxon Sr. and Berdella M. Truxon, Leara Edith Truxon Tyler Derricott, preceded her in death.
A wake and funeral service will be held on March 6, 2026, at Walkers LifeMemorial Center, 237 E. Patapsco Ave, Baltimore, MD 21225. The wake will begin at 10:30 AM followed by the funeral. Special thanks to Gary and Barbara Stine.
