Janice Lee "Jan" Wright (née Allen), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Shawnee, Kansas. She was 76 years old.
Born on August 13, 1949, in Concordia, Kansas, Jan was the daughter of Margaret Rosalie Allen. She grew up in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School in 1967. Jan pursued higher education at Fort Hays State University, where she earned a degree in business in 1974. Her intelligence and determination led her to become a Certified Public Accountant. She began her career at a regional accounting firm before founding her own accounting and consulting business. Through her company, Jan provided expert guidance to many clients in the medical field and built a reputation as a successful businesswoman.
Jan's life was enriched by her deep love for her family. She is survived by her two daughters: Kimberly Goodale (Sean) and Stephanie Bidnick (Michael). She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Blake Goodale (Charlotte), Keaton Goodale, Cole Goodale, Luke Goodale, Emerson Bidnick, Brady Bidnick, and Macy Bidnick. Her sister, Martha Schnatterly of St. Louis, Missouri, also survives her.
Jan cherished spending time with her grandchildren and took great joy in creating lasting memories with them during holidays and family gatherings. She loved traditions and passed many of them on to her children and grandchildren.
A woman of many talents and interests, Jan enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, gardening, and tending to flowers. Her creativity shone through in the beautiful items she crafted with care. She also had a passion for puzzles and found joy in shopping for fashion—especially shoes! Her friendly spirit was complemented by her humor and spunk, which endeared her to neighbors and friends alike.
Jan found comfort in her Christian faith in her later years. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and volunteered alongside one of her daughters at Furever Ranch, a sanctuary for senior dogs awaiting their "furever" homes. Her miniature toy poodle, Miss Priss, was her loyal companion who brought immense joy to her life.
In addition to being predeceased by her mother Margaret Rosalie Allen, Jan leaves behind countless cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.
