Jason Alan Chase, a gifted composer, arranger, pianist, organist, and Broadway musical director, passed away at the age of 53 on November 1, 2025, following a traumatic injury. Born in Massachusetts, Jason's musical journey began in his late teens when he played piano for Billy Graham during a European tour. His talent and dedication led him to accompany renowned singers, including Kenny Rogers and Stephanie Powers, and to serve as Music Director on Broadway for many years. Jason also contributed his expertise to seven Broadway tour productions, including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with David Cassidy.
Jason is predeceased by his parents, Richard A. and Meredith A. Chase, as well as his sister, Judy Pembroke. He is deeply mourned by his extended family at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chula Vista and by his natural family in Massachusetts, including his sister, Pam Hughes, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jason was a loving son who devoted his time to playing music at nursing homes as a young boy with his parents; his father preached during these visits
Jason's legacy lives on through the music he created, the lives he touched, and the memories cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jason Chase at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 580 Hilltop Drive, Chula Vista on Saturday, January 31 at 1:00 PM.
