Jason Michael Giarmo

1975 - 2026

Jason Michael Giarmo, 51, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away on March 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive, fast-growing brain cancer. Born on February 5, 1975, in Nevada, Jason lived a life marked by fierce love, boundless curiosity, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jason proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and deepened his sense of purpose. After his military service, he carried forward the discipline and dedication he had gained, channeling those qualities into the passions and relationships that meant the most to him.

A true creative soul, Jason found joy and expression through art in its many forms. He was a gifted painter and sketch artist whose work reflected the depth of his imagination and his unique way of seeing the world. His creativity extended into the kitchen, where he delighted in cooking for those he loved, turning meals into occasions and recipes into memories. Music was a constant companion throughout his life, providing both solace and celebration in equal measure.

Jason possessed an insatiable wanderlust and a deep curiosity about the world around him. Travel was more than a hobby for him; it was a way of life, a means of feeding his restless imagination and expanding his understanding of people and places. Whether exploring distant destinations or discovering something new close to home, he approached every experience with wide-eyed wonder and genuine enthusiasm.

Above all else, Jason was devoted to his children. Time spent with his son, Carter, and his daughter, Alexandria, was the greatest joy of his life. He loved them fiercely and without reservation, pouring his whole heart into fatherhood. Some of their favorite times were spent exploring Detroit where they enjoyed many days at Eastern Market, Belle Isle, or sharing a meal at Lafayette Coney Island. Sharing his love for exploration with his children was deeply important to him.

Those who knew Jason well understood that his stubbornness was simply another expression of that fierce love, a refusal to give anything less than everything to the people and pursuits that mattered most to him.

Jason is survived by his beloved children, Carter Giarmo and Alexandria Giarmo, and their mother, Jessica Person; his father, Salvatore Giarmo (Nancy Giarmo); his brother, Shawn Giarmo (Stacey Giarmo); his sister, Samantha Giarmo (Elias Martinez); his nephews, Grayson Werner and Asher Giarmo; and his nieces, Mia Martinez and Galilea Martinez. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Linda Giarmo Hammerberg.

In accordance with Jason's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place.
The family asks that those who loved Jason remember him not with sorrow, but by embracing the things he cherished most: creating something beautiful, sharing a good meal, exploring somewhere new, and loving fiercely.

May he find peace in God's eternal care, and may his family find comfort in knowing that his spirit endures in all the beauty of this world he loved so dearly.

In Jason's memory, his family shares these words by Mary Elizabeth Frye:

“Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.”
