Jason passed following an illness and leaves behind many friends he considered family. He also leaves Stephen Wagner of Ithaca, NY, sister, Joy Jordan, her husband Ray and their son, Morgan, of North Stonington, CT as well as many aunts uncles and cousins.
Jason was predeceased by his parents, James "Jim Lautzenheiser and Patricia "Kay" Lautzenheiser (Skinner).
Jay was the captain of the Wheeler High School basketball team from 1990-1992. As an all-star player, he achieved an astonishing 1006 career points and was elected prom king. Jay went on to study at Hobart College, then graduate school in Ithaca, NY.
Jay always had a song in his heart and big dreams on the horizon. One of the things he loved most was sharing his gift of song with everyone, and he had a song for every situation! When he chose to share his music with you, you were in for a wild ride. What joy he got from the journey!
Jay starred in shows including Godspell, Smokey Joe's Cafe and A Christmas Carol. He was also a founding member of the Not So Banjo Banjo Boys and the Beetlejuice Barbershop Quartet.
Jay found Silver Lake Conference Center in the early 1990's where he met many lifelong friends. He went on to cultivate his leadership skills working with the youth who attended camp. This led to a lifelong passion of serving others and extending a generous spirit.
Jay was a member of the Congregational Church of North Stonington, UCC.
Jay impacted many during his 51 years and he will be deeply and dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 11am at the Congregational Church of North Stonington, 89 Main St. North Stonington, CT 06359 followed by a time of fellowship and celebration at the church.
