Jay Edgar Hoover, 77 of Haslet passed away on Saturday, February 14th at home.

Jay was born June 9, 1948, in Mendota, IL to Cecil and Geraldine (Warner) Hoover. He graduated from Forest View High School in 1966 and was later drafted to the US Army, where he proudly served in the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Joy Seaman on February 21, 1970, in Algonquin, IL.

Jay had a 41-year career with American Airlines which led him and Joy to move to Texas in 1973 to raise their family. Jay enjoyed many interests over the years including racing his ’66 Chevelle, bowling, bass fishing, golf, jogging, and competing in vertical marathons. Jay absolutely loved spending time outdoors and spent his retirement years tending to his abundant vegetable garden, gathering and shelling pecans, and lounging by the pool.

He will be forever missed by his wife Joy Hoover, son: Jason (Natasha) Hoover of Grapevine, daughter: Jayne (Robert) Kendrick of Decatur, grandchildren: Adriana (Grant) Taylor, Nikolai Hoover, Aleks Hoover, Jordan Stoner, and Justin (Christy) Kendrick, 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Larry (Mavis) Hoover of Kingston, IL and 2 sisters: Bonnie Hunt of Elmhurst, IL and Pat Pfoutz of Sandy, UT, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Charles Hoover, Rodney Hoover, Gerald Hoover, and Norman Hoover, and 4 sisters: Leona Baker, Joanne Politsch, Celia Haub, and Emily Morris.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 28th at LifePoint Fellowship Church in Haslet (doors will open at 10 am, and service will be at 10:30 am). Jay will be laid to rest at a later date at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
