Jayna Mason

1963 - 2025

Jayna Sue Mason (Myrick), 62, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida.

Born on April 27, 1963, in Peoria, Illinois, Jayna was the daughter of Billie and Neta (Russell) Myrick. She grew up in Georgia and Illinois and pursued her education at Illinois Central College, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service, compassion, and faith.

Jayna devoted much of her life to helping others through both her professional work and volunteer efforts. She served as a ministry assistant and Stephen Minister at Grace Church, where she offered spiritual support and guidance to those in need. Her deep commitment to caring for others extended into her role as volunteer coordinator at Haven Hospice, where she helped provide comfort and dignity to individuals and families during life's most difficult moments.

Grace at Ft. Clarke Church was Jayna's spiritual home and safe space. Her faith was not only a personal anchor but also a driving force behind her outreach efforts. She participated in several mission trips to Nicaragua, Africa, and Vancouver, British Columbia—journeys that reflected her unwavering dedication to serving communities near and far. Jayna was also deeply involved in the church youth group, nurturing young hearts with kindness and wisdom.

A loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend, Jayna cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her devoted husband Charles; daughters Megan (Sam) Kortes and Kaitlyn (Chloe) Mason; grandchildren Luke Martignago and Crosby Kortes; niece Rachel (Andrew) Hinson; great-niece Allison Hinson; great-nephew James Hinson; brother David Myrick; as well as a sister, numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Her warmth and generosity touched each of their lives in unique ways.

Jayna was preceded in death by her parents Billie and Neta Myrick and her brother Gerald Myrick.

Her love for the arts shone brightly during the years she spent supporting Buchholz High School's drama program while her daughters attended school there. For eight years, she poured energy into helping students thrive creatively—an extension of her nurturing spirit that left a lasting impression on many.

Jayna's legacy is one of compassion lived out loud—through faith-driven service, unwavering love for family, and an open heart for all who crossed her path. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, from 03:00 PM to 04:30 PM at Grace at Ft. Clarke Church 9325 W Newberry Rd
