Jean Harrison

Jean Marie Harrison, 82, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Kearneysville, West Virginia. Born on May 17, 1943, in Takoma Park, Maryland, Jean brought joy and laughter to the lives of those who knew her.

Jean was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by her children: Debra Shumate, Linda DeShayes, Sharon Harrison, William Mazur (Brenda), and Wayne Harrison (Debra). She was a proud grandmother to Casey Barker, Terry Shumate, Gary DeShayes, Jeffrey DeShayes, Michael DeShayes, Christina DeShayes, Christina Ford, Heather Willis, William Mazur, and Kelly Nagy. She had numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Jean is also survived by her two brothers, Joseph Dougherty (Nancy) and Franklin Dougherty.

Jean loved family gatherings and watching her grandchildren play. She enjoyed making people laugh with her funny stories. Beach vacations with family were among her most treasured memories.

Outside of family, Jean loved spending time with her friends. She loved listening to music, dancing and playing cards. Furthermore, she was a proud member of the Elks lodge and American Legion.

Her warmth, humor, and devotion to family and friends will be fondly remembered. A small service will be held on March 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the chapel at Howard Chapel Ridgeville United Methodist Church, located at 1970 Long Corner Rd., Mt. Airy, Maryland.
