Jeanette Emmons

Jeanette (Jan) was born August 23, 1935, in Dallas, Texas to parents Robert Jack Robinson and Billye Pearl Sanders Robinson. Jan went to be with our Lord on November 30, 2025, at the age of 90, after a journey with Alzheimer's Disease. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School where she and her parents were all baptized on April 30, 1944. Jan attended high school at both Ursuline Academy and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Dallas. She graduated from OLGC in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Robert Bailey, the summer after graduation. The couple had three children, Katherine Anne, Susan Elizabeth and Barbara Lynn.
As a military wife she traveled with her husband to New Jersey, Oklahoma and Germany where she learned to speak the language.
Upon returning from Germany, after her husband's death, she went to work at the Dallas VA Hospital, then the Social Security Administration and finally found her permanent work home with the Department of Human Services where she trained field offices on Medicare, Medicaid and Disability programs. While with the Department of Human Services she was able to attend and graduate from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies.
Jan was briefly married to Jack Ronald Emmons and had a son, Neil Patrick.
Jan was a huge fan of baseball and followed the Texas Rangers. She loved softball and played on coed teams. She attended daily water aerobics classes at the Town North YMCA.
For many years Jan was a volunteer with The North Texas Irish Festival. She had a great love for the Irish culture, music and food.
Jan's journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God. Those who knew Jan will remember her for her infectious smile and generous nature. She really would give you the "shirt off her back". She attended daily mass, until she was no longer able, but continued to receive the weekly sacrament of Holy Communion by Eucharistic Ministers.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Bailey; two children, Neil Patrick Emmons and Susan Elizabeth
Bailey; grandson, Joseph Allen Carr, and great grandson Henry Drews Effinger; her parents Robert and Billye
Robinson; four brothers, Robert Jack Robinson, Michael Paul Robinson, Steven Joseph Robinson and James
Robinson.
Jan is survived by two daughters Katherine Bailey Carr and Barbara (Barbie) Bailey Drews her husband Eric,
their children Samantha Bailey Effinger (Roy) and Alexander Bailey Drews (Haley), grandchildren Edward Drews
Effinger, Philip Drews Effinger, Margaret Drews Effinger and Heidi Francis Drews; two sisters, Geraldine Marie
Robinson and Rebecca Lucille Leach, as well as multiple well-loved nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 pm. Friday, December 19, 2025, at St Rita Catholic Church in Dallas. In lieu of
flowers, please donate blood at your local blood bank. If you cannot donate, please spend an hour of your time
with a lonely senior.
